Hendrik Andriessen is a Dutch composer. While his orchestral works have been performed, his piano music belongs to “uncharted territory” where it has rarely been performed. Andriessen wrote piano music for almost 50 years, and his early works show the influence of his predecessors such as Bach, Brahms, Franck, Hindemith, Ravel, and French Impressionists. Comparing his early fugues from the 1910s with his Sonata No. 2 from 1966, the musical depth of his work is evident. The performance is by Nidger, a young pianist and composer from San Antonio, USA.
