The long-awaited reissue of Claudia Thompson’s 1959 album “Goodbye to Love,” released on Edison International, is now available in a definitive edition with bonus tracks! This is the only album Claudia Thompson ever released, and it features “Sam of Jesus Days” backed by some of the West Coast’s finest jazzmen, including Bernie Kessel (g), Benny Carter (sax), Paul Smith (p), Arnold Ross (p), Joe Mondragon (b), and Red Mitchell (b). Claudia sings standards such as “Sum of These Days,” “Body and Soul,” “Stormy Weather,” “Love is Over,” “Blue Prelude,” and “Dark Sunday” with a delicate touch, and her mysterious profile also makes this album a popular jazz vocal masterpiece even today. This is a masterpiece of jazz vocal performance. Two additional bonus tracks, a single version of “Dark Sunday” and “Good Night My Pet” are included.After researching the CD, a photo of her taken for this album was found, and it turned out that the woman on the original jacket was not her, so she has been replaced with her own photo on this jacket. English translation of the commentary is included.
