This is a reissue of the best-selling “Bloch: Concerto Works,” a collection of works by the Swiss-born, Swiss-Jewish composer Ernest Bloch. Born in Switzerland of Jewish descent, Bloch came to the United States after the war under the name “Ernest Bloch,” and while spreading neoclassical music in America, he also left behind many ethnically rich works based on Jewish liturgical music. This album contains works for piano and orchestra, including “Concerto No. 1,” a representative neoclassical work, and allows the listener to enjoy the variety of Bloch’s style. The piano is played by Taiwanese-born Jenny Lin, a virtuoso pianist active in the United States. Her brilliant tone explodes from the beginning of the “Symphonic Concerto” and captivates the listener.Naxos Japan
