Woodkid and Nils Frahm collaborated on a piece for the short film “The Ghost of Ellis Island” created by TED award-winning French artist JR. The piano track was composed by Nils Frahm and Woodkid, and performed by Nils himself. Ellis Island, a small island in New York Harbor with a view of the Statue of Liberty, was a symbol of the United States, a hope for refugees, and the last view of America for those who could not enter. The music, which was created to accompany the visual story, is quietly and emotionally sublimated on piano and violin, with narration by Robert De Niro, the star of the film, and the harmonium organ by Nils, which quietly melts into the darkness with the sound of bells.
