This is the second album in the “Sony Classical Masterpieces Collection 1000”. This album was produced by Terry Riley in 1967, and was the starting point of minimal music, in which 53 fragments (figures) are played arbitrarily by the participating players, and the music is developed through minute changes in tone patterns and harmonic progressions within simple repetitive patterns. This is a monumental piece that succeeded in expanding the framework of so-called “contemporary music.
