Sayaka Shoji, who completed a recording of the complete Beethoven: Violin Sonatas with the genius Cascioli, finally recorded Beethoven’s concerto in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in 2020. The performance is the culmination of Shoji’s exploration of various styles and her many experiences at this point in her career. Another highlight of the album is Sayaka Shoji’s original cadenza, which she wrote in 2006. The coupling is also a popular Sibelius piece. This masterpiece, in which the soloist is closely intertwined with symphonic sounds, reveals a passionate soul like a burning magma hidden behind a transparent coldness. This is the second recording with Yuri Temirkanov, one of Russia’s leading masters, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Russia’s finest orchestras, with whom he has performed numerous times each year, and with whom he has a deep musical bond of trust. Commemorative disc for his visit to Japan. Includes the program of the performance in Japan.
