With percussionist Marilyn Mazur as a guest, he warmly and melodically describes his impressions of his native Denmark in the language of jazz. This beautiful “Rhapsody” album is the culmination of Nicolai Hess’s sensibility and includes music written for Wilhelm Hammershøi, a leading modern Danish artist and painter of tranquility, music by Carl Nielsen, a leading Danish composer, and beautiful Nordic folk songs.
