Description
:
The Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert is held every year on January 1. The concert, which began in 1939 and has a history of more than 75 years, features waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family, the symbols of Vienna’s musical capital. The concert features waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family, and its expensive tickets are said to be the most difficult to obtain in the world. The 2016 concert will feature Latvian-born maestro Mariss Jansons in his third New Year’s Concert, his first in four years since 2012. He is one of the most important conductors of the Vienna Philharmonic, and although he has retired from the Concertgebouw Orchestra, he is still very popular as the principal conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, a German orchestra. The program will include the standard works “The Beautiful Blue Danube” and “The Racozzi March,” as well as works appearing for the first time in the history of the New Year’s Concert. [Recording] Scheduled to be recorded live at the Musikvereinsaal, Vienna, on January 1, 2016.
