Megumi Ito has completed recordings of all Schumann’s solo works and major works by Schubert. The new series is “Beethoven Piano Works,” focusing on the sonatas, which have been called the “New Testament of the Piano. Schumann, Schubert, and Beethoven. Beethoven, the great composer of the Romantic era, is a project that traces back through history to the essence of Beethoven’s music. This first volume includes two great sonatas, “Waldstein” and “Passion,” representative of the middle period, composed in the period known as the “Forest of Masterpieces. Andante in F major” was composed as the second movement of “Waldstein. The “Andante in F major” was originally composed as the second movement of the “Waldstein,” but a friend of the composer said that the sonata would become too long, so he decided to make it a stand-alone work.
