Description
:
In 1977, Böhm was nominated as Honorary President of the London Symphony Orchestra, and this is one of the three major symphonies from Tchaikovsky’s late period that he performed and recorded to commemorate this honor. The “Pathétique” is a piece with a deep, nostalgic pace that could only come from Böhm in his later years, and the “Tchaikovsky” is a piece that reaches a furious climax. The warm and tasteful performance is a unique and miraculous masterpiece. (C)RS
