[John Coltrane’s 95th Anniversary Special Price Limited Edition] To celebrate the 95th anniversary of the birth of the most charismatic man in jazz history (born on September 23, 1926), the release of previously unreleased live recordings, and the 60th anniversary of the founding of his Impulse label, we are reissuing a limited edition of his classic and rare recordings at a special price. The limited edition re-release. Ellington is respected as a bandleader and composer. The difference in age between the two is 27 years. This album is a once-in-a-lifetime session between these two great musicians of different generations. All but one of the songs are from Ellington’s side. Coltrane’s restrained playing on the sentimental “In a Sentimental Mood” is heartbreaking. The rapid-fire “Take the Train” was written for Coltrane.
