On the other hand, Coltrane is a fast-rising star. This album is a once-in-a-lifetime session between these two great musicians of different generations. All the songs are from Ellington’s side except one. Coltrane’s restrained performance of the sentimental “In a Sentimental Mood” is heartbreaking. The rapid-fire “Take the Train” was written for Coltrane.
