This is the second solo album in seven years from Chip Zunaf, bassist/vocalist and mainstay of Inaf Zunaf, who formed Inaf Zunaf with Donnie Vee (Vo) in Chicago in 1984 and made his debut in 1989 with “Inaf Zunaf” ( B, Vo). The band had a glam rock look influenced by the L.A. metal scene of the time, but their power pop sound, influenced by musicians such as the Beatles, John Lennon, and Cheap Trick, became popular here in Japan, and they have since gained a strong following over the years. In 2013, Donny left the band, but has continued to play mainly with Chip. This is his second solo album, and it has been 7 years since his first solo album “STRANGE TIME” was released in 2015. The musicianship is not significantly different from that of Inaf Znauf, mainly hard rock with familiar and sad melodies that stay true to the roots of The Beatles, Cheap Trick, and 60’s and 70’s rock. Chip himself handles all instruments except for lead vocals and drums, and is joined by guest appearances by Steven Adler (Ds), formerly of Guns N’ Roses, Joel Hoekstra (G), currently of White Snake, and Dax Nielsen (G), current member of Cheap Trick and son of Rick Nielsen (G). Dax Nielsen, who is also a current member of Cheap Trick and son of Rick Nielsen (G), participates in the band.Included on the album is “Heaven in a Bottle,” co-written with Donnie Vee, who is currently out of Inaf Znaf. The song itself is a rare track that core fans may have heard in a demo version during the Inaf Znaf era, and was created around 1986-1987, before the band’s debut.
