The unit was formed after their first performance together in 2015. They create unique music by playing their own original compositions in the unusual combination of vibraphone, piano, and cello. The name “Yamaya” was chosen because each member’s name has the character for “mountain” in it. All members studied classical music at a music college, and they express their powerful yet gentle sound by sharing the same underlying music.
