Description
ThorensTD 1601 Turntable with TP160 Tonearm
The Thorens TD 1601 builds on everything the TD 1600 offers, adding enhanced features for improved comfort and amplifier connectivity. It retains the classic wooden plinth, two-part platter with inner belt, thick rubber mat, powerful motor control unit, arm board, and acrylic dust cover, now complemented by balanced outputs and added conveniences for easier operation.
The conical springs for the sub-chassis are now mounted at the bottom rather than on the top board. Additionally, a small but strong steel thread connects the sub-chassis to a steel pin at the base, preventing any lateral movement and allowing only vertical motion.
Key Features:
- Stabilized sub chassis on three conical springs
- Polished precision belt
- Two part platter
- Adjustable belt tension
- Electronical controlled motor
- Electrical lift
- Contactless auto shut off
- Balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) output
- Thorens precision tonearm TP 160 9″
The TD 1601 also includes an electrical lift and a contactless auto shut-off feature. XLR jacks provide a true balanced connection to the amplifier for superior audio performance.
The TP 160 is a nine-inch radial tonearm in the medium-weight category. Its optimal mass distribution and robust construction make it an ideal partner for high-quality cartridges. The tonearm features a newly designed standard headshell, but it also supports any other headshell with an SME bayonet or integrated cartridges such as the Ortofon SPU. To account for slight variations in the effective lengths of different cartridges, the arm tube includes an axial adjustment, ensuring precise overhang at all times.
