Thelonious Himself is a 1957 album from the great jazz artist Thelonious Monk, a record consisting entirely of Monk playing the piano solo, with the exception of closing track ‘Monk’s Mood’ that features Wilbur Ware on bass and John Coltrane on saxophone. Awarded a prestigious five stars by jazz publication Down Beat, it’s one of the most essential releases of Monk’s entire career.
