Description
This new acoustic Chumbawamba album is, for the first time, a collection of songs, pure and simple.
Songs with a radical voice, songs with those signature Chumbawamba four-part harmonies and catchy choruses, but songs nevertheless ? songs without drum-loops or samples, without backwards cymbals or synth sequencers.
Mind you, A SINGSONG AND A SCRAP won’t fit too neatly into any categories, since it stands with its eight legs in different camps: traditional English music; ‘unplugged’ pop; choral secular music; jangly acoustic singalongs? this and that, and that and this.
The album is Chumbawamba?s first release on the No Masters label and sees them joining northern-based writers and musicians such as Mike Waterson, Coope Boyes & Simpson, The Fraser Sisters and Ray Hearne in No Masters Co-operative.
Tracks:Laughter In A Time Of War / William Francis / By & By / You Can (Mass Tresspass 1932) / Walking Into Battle With The Lord / When Alexander Met Emma / Fade Away (I Don?t Want To) / Bank Robber / Learning To Love / Land Of Do What You’re Told / Bello Ciao / Smith & Taylor.
