[As the title suggests, this is a pioneering neoclassical work, No. 1, which shows a classic, concise, and clear stylistic beauty. Although composed during the Second World War, the Fifth Symphony expresses freedom and nobility, and is richly colored with folk-inspired music. This is a new coupling of two Prokofiev symphonies and “Lieutenant Kyger” from Prokofiev’s complete symphonic works.
