Skyscrapers on the Mediterranean Sea. Athens, Greece and New York-based bassist Petros Klampanis crosses two cultures to create this new piano trio work. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s 1972 novel “The Invisible City of Marco Polo” and evoking his own “invisible city,” it invites you to walk the city, discover its secrets, marvel at its beauty, and dive into its darkness. Combining jazz, classical, and traditional folk music, the trio was formed by Estonian-born pianist Christian Randal, who has released a leader album on ECM, and Bodek Janke, a drummer and percussionist from Warsaw, Poland’s capital. Petros Krampanis Trio. Their music represents the colorful landscapes of New York City skyscrapers and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
