[Best Classical 100] The first concert after Pervo Järvi became the artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphil was held in June 2004. Their recording of Beethoven’s complete symphonies began shortly thereafter, and since then their performances of Beethoven have been acclaimed as “the world’s finest Beethoven”. The strong and flexible sound produced by the early tempo and clear phrasing accentuates the individuality of the works and invites the listener to new discoveries. The overture, with its overwhelming drama condensed into a tiny form, is a dense masterpiece on par with the symphony. This is the first title to appear in the series. Japan exclusive project / Blu-spec CD2 / Recording dates: August 24-29, 2005, December 18-20, 2012, July 19-21, 2010 / Locations: Funkhaus Nalepa Strasse Berlin, Hamburg, Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, Berlin
