Description
Selected as one of Rolling Stone Japan’s “Future of Music: 25 Artists Representing Japan”, and drawing growing attention from critics both in Japan
and abroad, next‑generation artist Misaki Umei presents her long‑awaited vinyl release.
Her debut album Asleep Above Creatures, which was also nominated for APPLE VINEGAR – Music Award – 2026, organized by Masafumi Goto (ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION),
is now being released on analog for the first time via her own label .plum(es). The album is pressed on clear color vinyl.
Freely traversing the boundaries between classical, pop, electronic, and jazz, the album is a rich and vibrant soundscape born from a spirit of fresh curiosity.
Across 11 tracks, the album moves seamlessly from piano solos to trio arrangements, string ensembles, and electronically infused compositions. It also features a collaboration
with acclaimed contemporary Brazilian musician Antonio Loureiro, highlighting Umei’s unbound musical sensibility and refusal to be confined by conventional frameworks.
