Latvian-born world-renowned conductor Mariss Jansons will celebrate his 75th birthday on January 14, 2018. To celebrate this occasion, a 5-CD box set of selections from Jansons’ masterful performances with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks will be released.Jansons has been the principal conductor of these two renowned orchestras: the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2003 and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra the following year, 2004 Jansons. With the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, he released his first nine albums in 2009, and since then has continuously recorded a variety of works. All of them have been best sellers. This set includes a selection of his best performances. In addition to Haydn and Mahler, two works by Varèse and Stravinsky that have never been released before are included.
