Jazz has always been the home of great partnerships. Those that immediately come to mind are , Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, Lester Young and Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane and his Classic Quartet, Bill Evans and Scott LaFaro, but there’s also one partnership deserving of more attention – the collaborations between pianist Mal Waldron (1925 -2002) and saxophonist Steve Lacy (1934 – 2004).
