[Leonard Bernstein (1918.8.25-1990.10.14) was a star conductor who shared popularity with Karajan in the 20th century.) His passionate, emotionally charged, and soulful performances drew the sympathies of many, and he was loved by many with a charismatic following. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth, 50 titles are being released in a limited edition in UHQCD format with green color label coating and sound quality specifications. Symphony No. 4 was the last Tchaikovsky recording with the New York Philharmonic. It is a disc that well illustrates Bernstein’s late years as an artist, and is a slow and careful performance, as if all his attention was injected into each note. The dark romanticism of “Francesca da Rimini” gives one a shiver in one’s heart, and the charm of the work is reproduced in every detail.
