Carmina Burana” was performed by Blomstedt, who gave an overwhelmingly masterful performance of this work on the NHK Symphony Orchestra subscription program as the honorary conductor of the orchestra. He has reached maturity and leads the chorus and orchestra with his commanding presence, bringing out the charm of the work with an exquisite sense of tempo. Decca’s excellent recording is also noteworthy. (C)RS
