[Encore Press: Mercury Living Presents 50] This album features five wind band pieces by British composers such as Vaughan Williams and Grainger, including Holst’s Suite No. 1, which is known as a pioneering original work for wind band. After studying at the Eastman School of Music and other schools, conductor Frederick Fennell began his conducting career, and in 1952 he founded the Eastman Wind Ensemble, which has made a significant contribution to the popularization of wind music and established a new tradition in wind instrumental music.
