[The Art of Claudio Arrau] Claudio Arrau (1903-1991) was a Chilean pianist active mainly in the United States. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death, this is an encore pressing of the “The Art of Claudio Arrau” series released in 2011. The seven concert paraphrases based on Verdi’s operas composed by Liszt have not been performed or recorded very often in recent years, and moreover, they have never been recorded together by a major composer. This is a Japan-only project. Recorded November 1971
