A triple commemorative disc celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, the 100th anniversary of Charlie Parker’s birth, and the 15th anniversary of Chihiro Yamanaka’s debut. This latest album is packed with gems of jazz standards, the latest original compositions, and plenty to listen to! The new album features the acclaimed After Hours Trio [Chihiro Yamanaka (p), Avi Rothbard (g), Yoshinori Waki (b)] with support from Cassandra Wilson and Ben Williams, and regular drummer John Davis, who is a regular member of Yamanaka’s trio. The After Hours Project has a relaxed atmosphere, yet each member swings with a happy, exuberant swing, and each member has his or her own unique style of playing. In addition to jazz standards, the program includes melodious Yamanaka originals, Beethoven’s 250th birthday celebrations this year, and Charlie Parker’s 100th anniversary.
