Argentinean virtuoso Alejandro Flanoff has chosen the mbira (thumb piano), an African instrument, as the theme of his new album. This work, entitled “Baobab,” is dedicated to the baobab tree, a symbol of the earth’s ancestors for him. It is a masterpiece of mbira’s nostalgic and beautiful music, which seems to bring back memories of prehistoric times.
