The album covers everything from old blues to 80’s pop, but it distinguishes itself from a mere collection of cover songs by featuring Nina Simone the most and making her the axis of this album. Lucy’s soulful vocals and Charlie’s groovy guitar update the good old blues beautifully for the modern age, while at the same time making this a fresh and enjoyable Nina Simone tribute album. This fascinating project connects the past to the present and the future of blues, jazz, and American music. The album features Charlie’s close friend Derek Phillips as drummer.
