The third Sony Classical release by Valery Afanasiev, a modern classical piano prodigy (or genius), is a collection of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, including “The Tempest”. Afanasiev, who turns 70 this year, chose these three pieces himself for release in this special anniversary year, and they are the pieces he performed in Japan in October 2017.
